Don’t try to be original. Be simple. Be good technically, and if there is something in you, it will come out.
-Henri Matisse.
Over the pass few weeks, I’ve been thinking about ways on how to make THEKINGDOMSWAY more known. You know, how to grow a bigger audience and figure out strategies that would make more people see my message. The truth is, I firmly believe that these writings can help revolutionize the path of those who feel a void in their lives. So, during the brain storming process, many ideas came to my head. Some were good, others no so good, and some I even implemented. My thought was “if I could figure out a way to make people see that there is a worthwhile message in this website, then all the time and effort will be worth it.” I did my research, and almost everyone said that it is necessary to have a TikTok and post every day on it, some others said that Instagram was the way to go, others said YouTube, and others said a combination of the 3 would launch the road for success. In addition, the most important part was to constantly be posting so the algorithm would pay attention to my content and show it more. However, something didn’t sink with me, there is something in my inside that wouldn’t allow me to start posting in such an abrupt way, and this something it’s what inspired today’s blog post.
Today’s world is all about being the best version of yourself, celebrating our singularities, and encouraging everybody to be unique (I write about it too!). Nevertheless, it is evident that everyday more people feel less than, compare to others, and lack a sense of identity. Why? Why is it that in a world rooting for such great things, almost every human feels the opposite? The answer is not complex. On the contrary, we’ve always had it! but the noise around us is too loud, making us miss the whisper of the spirit… spirit in which all truth can be found. It is true that chances of blowing up on the web will stack in my favor if I just post and post. However, reality is that not everyday I have something to say. I don’t get out of my bed every morning with a message on my mind. Writing a blog post or a YouTube video for my channel takes time to reflect, lots of reading, and time in the presence of God. So, what happens if I start to post even when I got nothing to say? Well, most likely this website and my words will become just another cheap tool that “tells you how to live more meaningful” but that in all honesty, will only leave you emptier than what you were before. So, remember the following my friend: Sometimes the intent to prove others and even ourselves that we are unique, might end up costing us the very thing we are trying to show! Our originality. Just like it would be dangerous for me to try to make people see that in these writings there is something worthwhile, it is dangerous for you to try to make people see that you are worthwhile. What is the difference between an original perfume, and one that is replicated? Well, the replicated one has some components from the original perfume and some added ones that allows the merchant to sell it cheaper (we all also know that it doesn’t smell the same). On the other hand, the original, has the precise amount of every component that will make you smell like a million dollars once you put it on. When we begin to do things to prove ourselves or others that we are original, we become the replicated version of that perfume! We start adding things to our personality that aren’t who God created us to be, and the result is a cheap version of you. Not because someone says we should do something, means that we should do it! remember, everyone deserves an opinion, but not everyone deserves a say.
Now, with this being said, I don’t want you to think that you shouldn’t try to improve yourself. Every day brings a new opportunity to grow. What I want you keep in mind is this: while every day is an opportunity to grow, not every opportunity is one that will help you grow. Make sure that when you embark in the adventure of bettering yourself, you are always building upon the basics that were already placed in you. Why do I say upon the ones that were placed in you? Well, because what is good for me, may not be so good for you, and that’s what it is important to listen to the spirit that God placed in us. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God.” -1 Corinthians 2:12. My invitation to you? Before listening to me or any other person, go back to the basics! What are the things that make you, YOU. And build upon those things… the more connected you are to these, the more “original” you can be.
My friend, it is my honor to be part of you journey. You are more especial than you can ever imagine! There is no book, podcast, or blog that can offer you the freedom that Jesus offers you. He has shown me a better way to approach this life in my short walk through this earth, and if he did it for me, he can do it for you! Seek him, talk to him, and you will find him… I promise you he will revolutionize your life. Ohh and by the way, he is not a religion, he is not a church, and he is not a song… he lives in you and wants a relationship with you.
